The Bible

The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, and was perfect when first written.  It is the complete story of God’s plan for the salvation of all people, and the final authority for all Christian faith and life. Matthew 5:18John 10:35John 17:172 Timothy 3:16-172 Peter 1:20-21.

The Trinity

There is one true God who exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  These three, being one God, are equal in deity, power, and glory. Isaiah 40-48Psalm 104Psalm 139Matthew 10:29-31Matthew 28:19Acts 17:24-282 Corinthians 13:14Ephesians 1:9-12Ephesians 4:4-6Colossians 1:16-17Hebrews 1:1-3Revelation 1:4-6

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, fully God and fully man.  He was conceived and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as a replacement sacrifice for all of us. By His blood at the cross He satisfied the wrath of God, paid for our eternal redemption, the forgiveness of sins, and eternal life after death.   He also defeated evil in the universe. It was an amazing day.  He came back to life on the third day after he was crucified so that we could be forgiven and soon after ascended to heaven where he assumed all authority in and outside of the universe.  He is there right now, and is also here with us.  He never stops thinking of us individually, and is always working out his perfect plan in our lives. Isaiah 53:1-12Matthew 1:18-25John 1:1-18Romans 8:341 Corinthians 15:1-282 Corinthians 5:21Galatians 3:10-14Ephesians 1:7Philippians 2:6-11Colossians 1:15-23Colossians 2:15Hebrews 7:25Hebrews 9:13-15Hebrews 10:191 Peter 2:21-251 John 2:1-21 John 3:8

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is fully God, and is equal to the Father and Son. The primary ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus. The Holy Spirit also convicts people without faith of their need for Christ and gives us a new spiritual life after we have accepted Jesus. It’s like being reborn!  The Spirit lives in, cleans, leads, and comforts us.  He also reveals truth, and graciously empowers us for godly living and service.  He does these things for every person who comes to faith in Christ.  Jesus covers His followers with the Holy Spirit who then keeps and protects them for the day when they meet Jesus face to face. After a person becomes a follower of Christ the Spirit actively begins to fill, empower, and anoint the new believer for ministry and witness. Matthew 3:11John 1:12-13John 3:1-15John 15:26-27John 16:7-15Romans 8:91 Corinthians 12:12-132 Corinthians 1:21-22Ephesians 1:13-14Ephesians 5:18

God not only created the world but also now upholds, sustains, governs, and providentially directs all that exists.  He will bring all things to their proper end and a new beginning in Christ Jesus for his glory and our good (see there it is!). Genesis 1John 1:1-14Acts 17:22-31Colossians 1:15-20

Man & Sin

Mankind in Adam was originally created in the image of God, righteous and without sin.  Because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience, all humanity is born sinful and is therefore subject to God’s anger and punishment, and would be justly condemned in the sight of God were it not for Jesus sacrifice in our place. We are, apart from Christ, wholly unable to save ourselves or to contribute in any way to our acceptance by God. Genesis 1-3Psalm 51:5Romans 3:9-18Romans 5:12-21Ephesians 2:1-3

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. No ordinance, ritual, work, or any other activity on the part of man is required in order to be saved. This saving grace of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, also makes us clean and makes it possible for us to do what is pleasing in God’s sight in order that we might, over time, become more and more like Jesus. John 1:12-13John 6:37-44John 10:25-30Acts 13:48Acts 16:30-31Romans 3-4Romans 8:1-17Romans 8:31-39Romans 9:1-23Romans 10:8-10Ephesians 1:4-5Ephesians 2:8-10Philippians 2:12-13Titus 3:3-71 John 1:71 John 1:9

The Church

The church is the hope of the world in Jesus and is God’s primary instrument through which He is reaching out to all of mankind.  God has called the church to preach the good news about Jesus to everyone and to make disciples of all nations, and especially to remember the poor and to minister to their needs through giving and practical service. We also recognize the importance of all Christ followers and the call of every Christian to be joined with and actively involved in a local community of believers. Isaiah 58:6-12Isaiah 61:1Matthew 16:17-19Matthew 28:18-20Luke 4:18Luke 21:1-4Acts 2:17-18Acts 2:42Galatians 2:10Ephesians 3:14-21Ephesians 4:11-161 Timothy 6:8Hebrews 10:23-251 Peter 2:4-51 Peter 9-10

Gifts of The Holy Spirit

All the gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament are operative today and are designed to testify to the presence of the kingdom of God and to empower and encourage the church to fulfill its calling and mission. John 14:12Acts 2:14-21Acts 4:29-30Romans 12:3-81 Corinthians 12:7-111 Corinthians 12:28-311 Corinthians 14:1-33Galatians 3:1-5

Baptism & Communion

Baptism in water and communion are the two ordinances of the church to be observed until Jesus returns. He told us to do these things.  They do not save us, but are meaningful symbols and testimonies of God’s cleansing grace and blessing to every follower of Jesus.  Baptism is a public confession of faith in  Jesus Christ, and is practiced by immersion in water for those who believe. Matthew 26:26-29Matthew 28:19Romans 6:3-111 Corinthians 11:23-341 Peter 3:21

Eternity & Judgment

When a Christian dies he or she will enjoy eternity in the presence of God in heaven.  When a non-Christian dies, because of sin, they will spend an eternity in hell separated from the presence of God. Matthew 25:46Luke 16:19-31John 5:25-291 Corinthians 15:35-582 Corinthians 5:1-10Philippians 1:19-26Philippians 3:20-212 Thessalonians 1:5-10Revelation 20:11-15Revelation 21:1-22:15

Christ’s Return

At some point, when everything is finished that he promised and planned, Jesus will return to the earth personally and visibly. 1 Corinthians 15:20-281 Corinthians 50-58Philippians 3:20-211 Thessalonians 4:13-5:112 Thessalonians 1:3-12Revelation 19:1-21
